One Month!

It's been a long time since I've posted! I'll make a list of what I've been doing this summer.
1. Got a job taking care of horses 4 days a week. I feed 13 horses, clean 8 stalls, and turn in/out horses to their specified fields. I really enjoy the family I work for and love gaining more horse experience whenever I can.
2. Got all my rabies shots! They didn't hurt at all but then again I have a high pain tolerance :)
3. Went to Texas to visit Eric! This was the best week of summer so far and I know it'll continue to be the best week until he comes to the East Coast :) !!! While I was there we cooked, laughed, wine tasted and talked about our exciting future. I feel blessed I will have him though out vet school for support.
4. Went on family vacation to the shore! Still on vacation now and I'm missing the Mid-West. I love being with my family but I was born in the wrong state! I miss corn fields and driving around with Eric
5. Visited family! The love and support my family provides is exactly what I need for professional school. My aunt had this gorgeous necklace made for my "graduation" party. It says "She thought she could so she did" and has my birthstone and my initial.. I love it

2.5 weeks till Eric comes to New Jersey and one month till vet school :)

Prayers Appreciated,
Gina

Sweet Summer

How sweet is my boyfriend for that last post?! Gosh I am lucky. So just like that undergrad is OVER! I ended well and I am so excited to finally feel like a real, official vet student! I am currently in the Dallas airport. I just left Eric at his apartment for the summer as he is interning in Texas! I am going to miss my favorite traveling partner but I couldn't be happier for him. This summer I will be relaxing and enjoying my last summer pre vet school craziness. I'll let you know what's on the horizon.. Pet sitting, rabies shots, and a lot of dunkin donuts ice coffee are in my near future. Stay tune! Big things begin this fall as I start my journey to becoming Dr. GG.

Surprise Gina

Hello All,

My name is Eric, Gina's boyfriend. She was kind enough to let me use her I pad since my computer decided to crash. I opened up the internet and sure enough her blog was open! I figured this was a very time to blog about her and give her a little surprise!

Gina and I met when we were freshman in college we lived in the dorms together. I thought her and her roommate were the funniest people ever. They were both from New Jersey and had these crazy accents. I'm from middle of nowhere Kansas so it was different for me to hear and accent, but they thought I had a crazy accent also. We became pretty good friends throughout the year even through all the pranks we were able to get along. Our second year of college Gina and her roommate decided to move to the other side of campus. I didn't hear from them much after that except for when they needed a ride places or wanted me to take them out to eat.

One day during the summer after our second year of college I received a text message. That is where is all started! She sent me that text message and I decided to text her back and ask her how he summer was going, and for some reason we never stopped talking. I never thought that I could be with someone from the big city life let alone New Jersey! Even though I never thought I could do that   the chance I took with her has turned out to be the best choice of my life to this day! We have currently been together for nine months and every day I have been with her has been better than the day before! I am planning on many more days, months and even years with her.

As you all know she will be starting vet school in August. I am so happy that I have the opportunity to take this journey with her! When we started talking she was working on her application. I remember freshman year how she was so dedicated and worked so hard in school. She knew what it took to get into vet school when she came to college. She made sure everyday that she worked hard and did good in school so she could achieve her goal! I knew by her work ethic when I met her that she was going to go somewhere, and SHE DID!!!!! I want you all to know how proud I am for her! I will never forget where I was when she called to tell me that she got into vet school! I was out hunting in the middle of a corn field when she called! At first I didn't know what she was saying because she was crying! After about the tenth time of her screaming that she GOT IN!! It finally registered to me that it was real! Once she calmed down she asked if I was excited for her and of course I said yes, but my hand was getting very cold!

I am so excited to see what our future holds! I can't wait to continue this journey with her as she starts vet school! I will be by her side for the next four years and will continue to support her throughout her journey! Gina continue to work hard and you will be rewarded! I love you and I hope you like your surprise!

Two Weeks and 112 days

Two weeks left of undergrad and the stress of finals is setting in. Prayers I learn some biochem and finish strong. One more exam.. I can do it. 112 days left until orientation :) scary and exciting! This week my mom is coming!!! Haven't seen her since the end of January.. Miss her like crazy. We are moving into my new house where I'll be living with a fourth year vet student. Hopefully he has good advice for me.

I want to make some goals for summer. My last summer of freedom.
1. Get fit and be happy
2. Find good ways to deal with stress
3. Read real people normal books!
4. Enjoy the beach and the ocean
5. Travel to Texas to see the world's best boyfriend
6. Find out how to freeze home cooked meal so the boyfriend doesn't starve until 2018 when I graduate
7. Cook new and complicated things!
8. Have fun and relax. Spend time with family

I don't think I'll really feel like a vet student until finals are done. Pray I do okay!

Happy Friday

Friday! Wahoo! Very excited for a weekend full of studying biochemistry and A & P. Last weekend was Open House at KSU. I went to the vet school and got some freebies. I was also able to talk to some students about how nervous I am! The overwhelming support from vet students I don't even know was awesome! They all told me it'll be challenging but nothing I can't handle. That made me feel great. 130 days till orientation begins.. Amazing.

This past week I made some great recipes. The one I would really push is Pioneer Woman's lasagna. I'm sure I'll post lots of her recipes because I love her and I've made about 15 of her recipes. Ree says she channels Lucille Ball, well I channel her. I absolutely love the rural life she lives and the family woman she is. Here's the link. I used Ricotta instead of cottage cheese... Sorry I'm an Italian girl always and forever. I also used sauce I made instead of diced tomatoes. Everyone really loved the Sunday night supper, I hope it inspires you! I love love to cook. I think it'll be a big help during my vet school stress.

Blog title

I've been getting a lot of questions about the blog title so I think I should explain. And I'm totally kidding about getting questions.. I have about two readers and they probably know why so I just made the first statement up. Growing up many people called me G or my father's personal favorite, GG. When I began my fantasies of being a veterinarian driving along the country side in a big ole pick up truck it only made sense my personalized license plate would read "Dr. GG". And while I haven't actually began my actual journey of becoming Dr. GG, not till August, as many pre-vetters would agree the journey to becoming a veterinarian is very long so I feel confident that I can now sign documents as "Dr. One-day GG" because I am actually going to vet school!

So here's what I'll be studying all of next year! Hope I survive and maybe, hopefully, possibly thrive?!
Almost Dr. GG

Learning how to do this

I realized my post yesterday seemed incredibly long so I apologize. I need to learn how to format! I can't promise my punctuation and grammar will ever be correct but I'm okay with that. Six weeks left.. I can't believe it! Only 38 days until finals and my undergraduate career will be over. As I mentioned in my first post I am going to veterinary school a year early because I applied and was accepted as a junior so I am not receiving a degree. My classes for my last semester are...

Cow-Calf Health Systems: this class is awesome and taught by a vet. We go over health issues in cattle production.

Biochemistry: my last science pre-req for vet school! Wow!

Anatomy and Physiology: very important for next year because it'll be the basis of everything I'm learning.

Livestock and Grain Marketing: fun teacher, economic stuff

Lambing: lots of babies, they are cute.

So it's a pretty fun semester. I'm not stressing or working extremely hard like I have in the past and I'm happy with that. 4 years of stress are in the near future :)
